Buying for Schools

The Buying for Schools blog is run by the Department for Education’s (DfE) Schools Commercial Team. We’re here to support people who buy for schools and buying decision makers in schools, particularly around complex buying – energy, ICT, catering, cleaning and all those potentially tricky areas of procurement.

We also want to bring school business professionals together to support one another through the promotion of school business professional networks.

The DfE's Get Help Buying for Schools service went live in 2021. This service is free to all state funded schools and provides impartial advice and guidance, digital and hands on support from procurement experts, to help buyers achieve best value for their school or multi-academy trust (MAT). We’ll be contuniting to grow the service over the next year.

School buyers, you can contact us via our LinkedIn page or email us.

A polite note to commercial service providers: We are not the team to talk to if you wish to become part of a DfE-approved framework. We recommend that you contact the Public Sector Buying Organisations (PSBOs) who supply the education sector.

We have more information about the deals that are available to schools, joining a school business professional network and the wider help and support the department is making available to help schools reduce cost pressures and make every pound count, among other things.
